Busy Season

Sorry for the lack of blogs lately. I have been swamped and I haven't taken many photos or written much. My busy season should end in another 3 weeks, so bear with me. I do hope to start taking more photos especially with so much fun outdoor activities occuring (one more month 'till the pool opens!)

Here is a photo of my awesome Clematis with Lauralyn. I wish this bloomed year round.

Big Girl and Best Buddies

Tonight, Lauralyn decided she was going to sleep in her "big girl bed." I had been at a meeting, and Noah informed me of this development when I got home. I almost cried. On top of that, she went to the potty before getting in her big girl bed. Of course, that is a great thing. She has grown up so fast over the past few months, Isaac, too. They are so tall now, and I can have real conversations with them... it's quite remarkable really. Isaac has a great imagination, and he loves to play pretend, like being on a pirate ship, etc. Lauralyn happily plays along.

Yesterday, Isaac slept in because of a rough night (scared of his own window, or what was outside of the window). As soon as Lauralyn gets up she asked, 'Where's SIsaac?...I need my buddy." How cute!

I said, "Is Isaac your buddy?" She affirmed with a head nod.

I pray this continues into adulthood. I want all my babies to be buddies. Of course, there are those headache moments when Lauralyn screams bloody murder because Isaac is doing something he knows will upset her (like touching her leg, or playing with her necklace). But, for the most part, they really are good buddies.

Four Favorites @ Four Months

Today is Kristin's 4 month Birthday! She has her 4 month wellness check up later (which means 3 nasty shots, too), and I will post her growth stats at the bottom later this evening.

I have to say my favorite thing about having children is that they are their own person... each having a unique personality, and it is so much fun to see the different traits develop. So, here are my four favorite "things" about Kristin that are original to her alone (compared to her older siblings).

1. Kristin sleeps in later than me generally speaking. When she wakes up, whether she is happily talking, or angry, when I walk into the room and tell her "good morning" she laughs out loud at the sheer joy of seeing me. This is such a cool way to start my day, always putting a smile on my face, no matter what my mood may be.

2. I call Kristin "my baby monkey" because she holds on tightly to whoever is holding her, just like a baby monkey. She has a seriously strong grip and always clings to my shirt, or a necklace, as if her life depended on it. Her siblings were the opposite, and were much more like a sack of potatoes when being held.

3. Kristin will use her lower lip as a pacifier. This is incredibly cute.

4. When fighting sleep, and when Mommy is pushing the real pacifier on her in hopeful desperation, Kristin will say, "Ooh Ga ooh ga ooh ga ooh ga ooh ga ooh ga ooh ga ooh ga ooh ga ooh ga," to the beat of Mommy's bouncing. This has turned many heads when we are around others. It translates to, "I don't want to sleep, I don't want to sleep, I don't want to sleep, I don't want to sleep."

A 3 Year Old's Perspective

We have had some crazy weather here the past 2 days. The storms on Sunday certainly got Isaac's attention. He is not a fan of thunder and lightning (he and Jezebel have this in common). So, Isaac, wanting to stop the storm, and knowing this type of thing was out of Mommy and Daddy's league, asks me, "Mommy? Will you get me a big rocketship so that I can go up and tell God to stop the storm? Or, maybe a Superman cape?" I explained to him that God can hear him without having to travel up to space, that God is everywhere, and we prayed a short prayer for the storm to stop. Then storm did stop eventually, and Isaac realized that indeed, God had heard his request. This little life lesson went along perfectly with his memory verse from this past fall. "Do not be afraid... your prayer has been heard." Luke 1:13

Yesterday, the wind was just intense all day. We have these thin, tall trees at the back of our yard, some of which are slowly dieing (I think they are just an eye sore at this point, and can't wait for them to be cut down). Anyhow, two of the trees snapped in half from the mighty wind. Isaac exlaims to me, "Elijah is going to come over and go into the backyard with me, and he will say, 'Oh my goodness! Your trees are broken!'"

Oh, how he keeps me laughing!

A New Blog (lest I be a hypocrite)

So, this shall be me new blog site, please excuse the time it takes me to make this page as sweet as the old blog. My reasoning behind switching to a popular blog site is that Isaac is going to school come August. Yes, as they would say here in the south, "Bless his little heart the child is spirited and needs a social outlet." So, I figured maybe advertising myself as a homeschooling mum (being that my other blog was on a homeschooling site) would be a bit deceiving. Now, grant it, Isaac is just going to be attending a part-time K-4 program, but if all goes well, we intend to keep him in the school (a private Baptist school down the road) through 6th grade. I still believe in taking education one year at a time, and each child has different needs, so more likely than not, at some point I will be a homeschooling mom (I just don't know what grade that will be or which child or children will be my pupils).

Of course, hats off to all homeschooling moms out there! I am realizing that being the sole educator of your children is a VERY difficult proposition, requiring a great deal of self-sacrifice and excellent time management skills. I am, however, excited for Isaac to go to school. I am hopeful he will thrive in a classroom setting, especially being that he is a very active boy.
