Black and White

I love black and white photography. There is a time and place for color, sometimes I even prefer color (especially in the fall), but the simplicity of black and white can be so peaceful and powerful all at once.

Black and white can make anything look somewhat creative and artistic. If I could look at my messy house through a black and white lens, I would find a lot more beauty in the chaos and anger inducing mess. The dirty clothes and trash coating the bedroom floors just a lovely reminder that we are blessed with 4 children (still in dire need of our training and instruction). Maybe in black and white there could be beauty in the broken furnace... maybe I would see how it provided warmth for us the last 11 years instead of the looming chunk of change we're about hand over for a new unit.

A final glimpse of baby teeth on top... a big gap now adorns her smile.

Imaginations in action. I can't believe they will head to kindergarten in August.

And so I sit in the living room typing this rare blog post. Longing for a little peace and quiet, but content that the kids have paired off in separate forts, building legos by the fire. The older two singing in Swahili (a choir song), and the younger two speaking their own excited jibberish. They have destroyed my once clean living room... but I bet it's beautiful in black and white.

Life

Waiting on DSS to tell us what they are planning for Baby C's future... dreading that this very well may be the last few weeks with him.

Snuggling that sweet Baby C, he is such a sweet, sweet baby, and the easiest baby boy I've ever had the pleasure of caring for. He has the perfect amount of baby fluff, and the softest head of baby fuzz I love to nuzzle.

Soccer practice for Daniel, Kristin and Coach Daddy. Tennis to start for Isaac and I.

Cooking, shopping for groceries/essentials, driving to and fro, washing/folding mass amounts of laundry, attempting to keep the peace. Amazing how much sibling can argue... it's foreign to me as my brother and I rarely battled.

Spring is just around the corner, and the sun has finally appeared and the wind has finally died down, giving us a sweet taste this quiet Saturday.

I am so very blessed, and don't thank the Lord enough for all He has done. I tend too often to slip into the guilt ridden mindset that I fail far too often at life. Gratefully, there are many reminders that even though I am never going to be good enough, the One who is good enough, has paid it all for me.
