And just like that, another summer ends.

Isaac {11 years, 3 months}
Passionate, industrious, handsome. Loves fishing and all things survival and outdoor related. Enjoys science and history, especially war history. He is growing into an awesome young man, but it still a mama's boy at heart (which is so special to me). This year he will be homeschooled for 6th grade. Mondays will be spent at Illumination (the great co-op we participated in last year). I am looking forward to spending some one on one time learning together. We'll be covering as much as possible... including topics like the Revolutionary War, and doing a Davidson County history project (along side Lauralyn who has the assignment in her class).

Lauralyn {9 years, 7 months}
Independent, driven, beautiful. I believe this girl will break my heart someday by graduating high school and never looking back. The world will be her oyster... I just hope she visits occasionally ;-) Lauralyn has been my most independent child from the start of life. It's sometimes hard to look at her as "only 9." She amazes me all the time with her ability to adapt, to create, to be sweet, to conquer a challenge. Horses are her life right now, which I adore. At least somebody in our house is able to ride... and I get whiffs of barn and hay and horse when I pick her up. Lauralyn has started 4th grade at her new school (Sheets Memorial Christian School)! I'm hoping it is a great year for her.

Kristin {7 years, 8 months}
Creative, thoughtful, adorable. How I birthed two girls that are polar opposites, I'll never know. Kristin is content to do anything as long as she is by my side. She loves spending quality time with people. She loves snuggling (and her pink blanket and stuffed dog). Kristin would like to do arts and crafts all day long. She is amazingly creative. This year she will take beginner gymnastics as she has begged to give it another try. Hopefully, she'll also continue with piano lessons. Kristin happily started second grade at her favorite school, SMCS!

Daniel {6 years, 2+months}
Oh, Daniel. He pulsates with energy, and love of constant activity. He thrives on being around people, an extrovert to the core. He is impulsive, loud, vibrant, intelligent, and charming. He also challenges my patience daily, mostly because I am introverted and appreciate quiet. I love the calmer moments we share, reading a book together, or when he wakes up and just wants a hug. Even at age 6 he occasionally needs a nap... he uses up so much energy while awake. Daniel will try gymnastics this year, and take a break from soccer this fall. He also started a 2nd year of kindergarten at SMCS, and grumbles because of nap time. But we wanted him to have an extra year to mature before really having to hit the books. Daniel is so dynamic, I pray God uses him in a big way.

Joshua {16+ months}
Our little family mascot. Ha! Joshua is the apple of everyone's eye. Each person in our family gladly dotes on him, and he in turn is as charming and cute as a toddler can be. Giving hugs and kisses to everyone, he is not particularly clingy to mama, and enjoys daddy more than any of the other kids did at this age. He and Noah certainly have a special bond. He has beautiful, soft blond curls... I refuse to cut them. As with Isaac, I plan to give him his first trim at 18 months.  Joshua LOVES cars and trucks. He even likes watching NASCAR. Joshua is a busy boy, running from one place to the next. He will sit and watch Sesame Street for a bit, (he likes the singing the most), but he especially likes being active. I have lots planned for him this year: nursery school at the YMCA, Kids Business, CBS, and a Wednesday mornings with Granny. I can't help but look at Joshua and just feel joy. He is such a blessing to our family (as are all the kids).

We truly are grateful God chose to lend the 5 souls to us... I am very aware of how quickly they grow. Before we know it, they will be out starting their own families. I'm trying to enjoy every precious moment in the meantime and praying God gives us grace and wisdom to grow them well!
